Two cars that really impressed me in the final practice was Kevin Harvick and Clint Bowyer. However, I'm not really picking them to win because Richard Childress teams have not really done anything impressive all season so I'm not sure the consistency during the race will reflect their good practice session. Also, none of the RCR cars are starting close to the front since the field is set by owners points, as qualifying was rained out.
Four cars I feel very good about this weekend:
Jimmie Johnson - He lead the most laps at this track last fall in the Chase. He ended up second to Greg Biffle. He also had the first or second best car at this track last Spring but the race was rain-shortened so finishing spots had no reflection upon how cars ran all day. He was very impressive in the practice sessions, and starts 3rd. This team almost won Michigan before running out of fuel, and ran very well last week at the road course. They had to overcome a pit road problem last weekend and rebounded amazingly well. They have a ton of momentum.
Greg Biffle - He won this race last fall and appears very fast in the final practice. He shows a very good average lap time so he should be solid on long runs. He starts 8th and should run top 5 all day.
Tony Stewart - They have been finishing in the top 5 every week it seems like. His lap times are very similar to Johnsons, and he starts first. This track is flat like Martinsville where Stewart got 3rd earlier this year. It also drives similar to a road course due to the flatness, and he got second last week at a road course. Look for him to run top 3 all race and have a great shot at another win.
Kurt Busch - He won this race last Spring. He didn't have the best car that day, he won it on pit strategy with the rain. He is actually faster than Biffle, Stewart, and Johnson in the practices. He's having a solid season and starts 4th. Look for him to run top 5 all day, and have a great chance at winning the race.
BOL!
